Dreaming of the day...

It’s hard to imagine a long winter walk in the elements followed by retreating to the warmth and atmosphere of a coffee shop for a drink, something to eat perhaps, and a chance to read the papers or a book, chat to friends, or even a complete stranger sat next to you as you people watch on the street in front of you...
This was exactly what I was thinking whilst painting Flat White Kitchen, @flatwhitedurham, a coffee shop specialising in baked goods and typical café fare in a 17th century townhouse.

Flat White Kitchen is proudly local and independent, serving some of the North East's best coffee and most highly acclaimed food, found at 40 Saddler Street, Durham, DH1 3NU.
The January Takeout Menu offers Breakfast rolls including Avocado, and halloumi red pepper ketchup; Pancakes including Vegan stack, seasonal fruit, coconut yoghurt, almonds and syrup; Sourdough toasties including Kimchi & bacon grilled cheese; and Carrot, cumin & coriander House soup.

When my nephew returns to Durham after his year placement, and in the hope's of some sort of return to a new normality, it will give me an excuse to head 40 minutes up the road to enjoy the delights on offer....
